recently the BART (bay area rapid transit) police shot and killed a 45 year old man who was drunk on the train, or something, i don't really know the deal, there were protesters and cops in riot gear which are really cool costumes. the protest was near the Powell Bart station by the time i got there around 7 pm.
it was a good day for drawing, i drew people on my commute to work, i taught 2 classes back to back, and then went to draw the figure for 3 hours, and then drew the riot gear guys and the protesters on my way to dinner, and then drew people in the restaurant during dinner, and then people on the Bart on my way home, all together maybe 12 -14 straight hours of drawing?
i really enjoy this type of on the scene, pure observational drawing, i always think of burt silverman's drawings that he did during the civil rights movement.
